Giving Teens the Tools They Need for Success

Our weekly school meetings, called Society Club, happen on campus during school hours. In order to create thoughts and action toward healthy behavior, we participate in lively discussion groups that focus on character building in young men and women. All of our classes and events work together in a themed curriculum.

Students are able to get away from all distractions and they can focus on the true beauty of their surroundings. They will be presented with obstacles on the field trip which will relate to life. As they overcome the obstacles, we are able to strengthen their minds and encourage them to make healthy decisions in all areas of life. Rock climbing, horseback riding, museums, ropes courses, etc. are places of destination for our field trips.

Students are given an opportunity to have a shadowing day in the career field of their choice. By doing research they will learn every step of applying for and successfully securing the job. From their research, they create a job portfolio they can use in the present or the future.

Students are required to write specific essays to participate in field trips. These typed essays are based off what the students have learned during the month in the program. This is also a time where teen parents will write letters to their child(ren). Students will also create a vision book that will hold attainable goals, encouragement, and reminders.

Through weekly meetings, volunteer work and fun filled activities, we mentor high schoolers to realize the potential they have in spite of where they’ve been, and have them mentor other young boys & girls in fifth grade through middle school. The mentoring program uses adult volunteers to commit to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to a student for a period of at least one year.

Helping students volunteer at organizations like Feed the Children, The Food Bank, nursing homes, etc, is important so they realize it isn't all about them. This essential growth exercise reveals to them that there are people still in need who are in worse situations than themselves. Incorporating volunteer work will help keep students humble and in turn teachable.

We host two luncheons for our students per year in May and December. During our luncheons we give students practical tools and encouragement that helps them in their next season.

It is an opportunity for all the ladies & gentlemen to have a healthy atmosphere where they are able to get all dazzled up, feel important and can learn the significance of proper etiquette.

Students receive certificates as they complete the program and participate in different events. Lilies & Reeds Society recognizes great effort, achievements, academic accomplishments, good citizenship, and their hard work!

Part of the joy in our work is allowing creativity. Students in our program get the opportunity to design their very own Lilies & Reeds Society t-shirt. They can then wear their shirts for our extracurricular activities outside of school. Volunteers and Mentors also enjoy designing their own shirts.
